Ingredients

Serves : 3
  • 1 cup rice


  • 1/2 cup black chana


  • 3 tsp ghee


  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds


  • 7-8 pepper corns


  • 2 green cardamom


  • 3 cloves


  • 1 inch cinnamon


  • 1 bay leaf


  • 1 big sized onion chopped


  • 1 green chilli


  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste


  • 1 medium sized tomato chopped


  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder


  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder


  • 1 tsp chana masala powder


  • 1/2 tsp salt


  • 2 cups water

Directions

  • Soak the black chana /chickpea in water for 4 hours.
  • Then boil them in pressure cooker with little amount of salt and water up-to 2 whistles in low flame.
  • Then switch off the flame and keep the boiled chickpea aside.
  • Heat a wok with ghee and then add all the whole spices in it.
  • After 20 seconds add the chopped onion, green chilli in it.
  • When the onions become transluscent then add the ginger garlic paste in it and saute it for sometimes till the raw smell of garlic has gone.
  • Then add the chopped tomatoes along with turmeric powder,salt coriander powder and Chana masala in it and cook it for 5 minutes till the masala release the ghee.
  • Then add the boiled chickpea and again cook it for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add rice and water and cover it for 10-15 minutes till the rice cooked properly.
  • Then switch off the flame and your chana masala pulao is ready. Serve hot with raita.
